On Feb 9th, 1989, legendary manga author Osamu Tezuka died after a prolonged hospital stay due to Stomach Cancer. Months later, Asahi Journal ran a Special issue as homage to Tezuka's legacy. In this issue, a bunch of his contemporaries, as well as some of his own assistants, drew up tribute pages to mourn their fallen colleague. This listing is for the translated tribute pages.

A political thriller involving a former sumo wrestler, now a member of corporate trading. After a scandal involving the director who promoted him, Himoto gets transferred to the city of Esecarta in the South American country of Santalna (a fictitious location). Santalna is in political turmoil, with the government fighting against rebel guerillas. However, Himoto hears about a rare mineral that can only be mined in the very location the rebel guerillas make their stronghold. Can Himoto, the 'gringo', succeed in his goal? Incomplete due to Tezuka's death. The 11th chapter was the last finished work of Tezuka. To fill in the third tankoban, a short serial from 1987 was included. Midnight is the story of a taxi driver named Shinya Mito (whose name is literally Japanese for "mid" and "night") and his various passengers, each of whom he helps in various ways. Shinya drives a taxi as a way to earn money for the treatment of a young woman named Mari, whose brain was injured sometime earlier as the result of an accident Shinya was responsible for causing. One day a boy named Pete finds a map of "Treasure Island" that his deceased father left behind. He starts on a voyage to find it together with "Captain," who was a friend of his father. But his ship is attacked by pirates, led by Bowarl, and the two are caught. When a storm hits the pirate ship, the two are thrown into the sea and washed up on the shore of a solitary island in the southern ocean. To their surprise, this island is the one they have been looking for… The manga that made Tezuka famous. It is an action-adventure drama inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's book. This is the redone version for the Tezuka 400 Complete Works. When time came to collect NTI for the Complete Works, Tezuka had promised that All of his works would get collected, but the original version was presumed lost. Tezuka, wishing to keep on his promise, decided to redraw the entire manga from memory. The version restored characters previously cut (like Peter Pan). The original ending was also restored, making this the definitive version of New Treasure Island. Tezuka also did Picture Books in addition to Manga. Unfortunately, these were not collected under the original Manga Complete Works but were reprinted by Kawade Shobo as a 4 Volume set. These are Picture Books based on Fairy Tales his Mother told to him as a child (from fukkan.com and TezukaOsamu.net): When Osamu Tezuka was a child, his mother told him many stories. This picture book series was born from those memories. ...4 wonderful stories: Burn, Dragon! (もえよドラゴン, Moeyo Dragon) 1981 - A princess is kidnapped by a bad knight, but a righteous dragon rescues her... Sweater Frenzy (セーターさわぎ, Seta Sawagi) 1983 - A witch and animals living in a forest in the middle of winter compete for a woolen sweater they found in the forest. The reason is that it was bitterly cold that winter. That is why the witch and the animals wanted to wrap themselves in the sweaters and get snug. But while they were fighting for the sweaters, the yarn frayed and was ruined. What should they do? Sleeping Beauty (いばら姫, Ibarahime) 1985 - This is a well-known Grimm's fairy tale in Japan under the title of "Ibarahime". This is a faithful adaptation of the original without any particular alterations by Osamu Tezuka. Sky-Flying Rabi (空とぶラビ, Sora Tobu Rabi) 1988 - Rabbi is an energetic but very wimpy little rabbit. One day, Rabbi was being chased by a mean fox. After running and running and running, Rabbi runs deep into the forest where he meets a mysterious dwarf. The dwarf tells Rabbi, "Give me your tail and I will make you fly." Rabbi gives up his tail to escape from the fox, and the dwarf makes him fly. The animals in the forest see the flying rabbit, and want to fly too, so they rush to the dwarf.

This Manga deals with parenting, depicting the daily lives of mangaka Ohsamu Tetsuro, who strongly resembles Tezuka Osamu himself, and his family. The story begins with the birth of his first son. The son is named Makoto (nicknamed Mako) and grows to be a healthy 2 year-old, basking in the love of his orderly mother and careless father. The son is followed by two daughters named Rumiko (nicknamed Rumi) and Chiiko (nicknamed Chii). This story focuses on the increasing hustle and bustle inside the Ohsamu family. Also includes the 4-koma work "Sorry, Mama": The lively day-to-day family life of the young boy Yabo Onishi, his mother, and his father.
